Do your best to meet baby’s needs often.

Keep making small adjustments until you and your child are dancing together in a smooth rhythm of connection.

Respond to baby’s needs and communication with sensitivity and consistency.  The more often you respond, the more your child’s brain connections strengthen.

  • Make eye contact with me when you notice I need your attention.
  • Tap me gently and wait until you have my visual attention before you sign, talk, or show me things. Give me time to learn that a gentle tap on my shoulder, back, or arm means, “Look at my nurturer for connection!”
  • Please try not to pay much attention to your phone when I am with you. Each time you look at your phone, your presence disappears from me. When this happens often, I can feel frightened.
